Work Permits
For a minor child (ages 0-15 years of age) to be able to work in Illinois, he or she must be issued a work permit. Permit is valid for 1 year from the time of issuance for the employer listed.
Public School District Enrolled Students
All work permits are issued through the child's school district if he or she is enrolled in an Illinois public school.
- Please contact your child's district office for a list of their issuing officers.
Homeschooled or Out-of-State Students
The Regional Office of Education #8 would only issue a work permit for homeschooled students or a child that lives out-of-state that will be working in the Illinois counties:
- Carroll County

*Any students not living or working in these counties will be directed to their local Regional Office of Education.
